My Philosophy

I don't teach music, I teach people.

Every Student is a unique individual. As a teacher I strive to be a chameleon, meeting each student where they are and guiding them along their chosen musical path. There are certain fundamental skills every musician must learn. What we do with those skills is up to you.

We can learn something from any style.

Chopsticks and Chopin, Beethoven and Broadway, Angry Birds and Amazing Grace...all have something to offer.

Be the tortoise, not the hare.

The bad news: there are no shortcuts to excellence (or even competence), you have to practice.

The good news: with regular practice you'll soon be amazed at what you can do. Practice only on days you eat!

We're a team.

If we both do our job well everyone wins.
